Coach and minibus hire to Glyndebourne

JRP Direct provides coach hire to Glyndebourne for opera societies, music clubs, corporate guests and private parties who would rather travel together than drive separately. We are a family business running minibuses and coaches, executive coaches among them, from Buttons Farm, Cross in Hand, near Heathfield, and every driver is checked to enhanced DBS level. A good Glyndebourne evening depends on the season you are booking, when the gardens open, how long the interval runs and when the grounds close, and those timings shape the arrival and return we plan with you.

Glyndebourne Festival and the autumn season

Glyndebourne Festival is its flagship summer season of opera. Festival 2027 brings three new productions, Janáček’s Jenůfa, Rossini’s La Cenerentola and Mozart’s Idomeneo, along with the return of Bizet’s Carmen and Verdi’s La traviata, and public booking opens on Sunday 28 February 2027, with Glyndebourne Members given early access. The autumn season adds opera, concerts, masterclasses and recitals. Glyndebourne is a charity, and the Festival receives no public subsidy.

Timings on the day

The gardens open two hours before each performance, giving time to explore 12 acres of gardens, the visual arts exhibitions and the historic Organ Room. Bells sound ten, five and three minutes before the performance starts. Every Festival performance has a 90-minute interval, while some autumn performances have a shorter interval of 20 to 30 minutes, and Glyndebourne publishes each interval time on its performance schedule. After the final curtain, the grounds stay open for 90 minutes, with the Long Bar and the shop open for anyone who wants to linger.

Because these times are published in advance, we fix the drop-off and the return pickup with you at the point of booking.

Picnics, dining and what to wear

For many visitors a picnic in the gardens is part of the Glyndebourne evening. Groups can bring their own picnic or order one through Dining at Glyndebourne, and under-cover picnic tables in marquees and stretch tents can be booked in advance. Glyndebourne also has three restaurants on site, serving everything from afternoon tea to French fine dining. Black tie is a long Glyndebourne tradition, and there are changing rooms on site for anyone who would rather not travel in their finery.

Access at Glyndebourne

Glyndebourne states there is step-free access to the auditorium from both the car park and the coach park, with lift access to all levels and wheelchair positions at Foyer Circle level. It asks visitors with access needs to tell the Box Office when booking, and offers a free companion space for anyone who needs one. For a party that includes a wheelchair user, our accessible executive coach has a professionally maintained lift and room for 51 seated passengers as well.

Group tickets at Glyndebourne

Glyndebourne has a dedicated group booking team for parties buying ten or more tickets for the Festival. For larger parties and tour organisers, Glyndebourne Groups and Events Membership starts from £3,000 plus VAT and offers priority booking, flexible ticketing and long reservation periods, with a drink on arrival and a programme book for each couple.

Choosing a vehicle for an evening at the opera

A small party travels well in our 19-seater executive minibus, with Wi-Fi and device charging if you ask for them. Larger societies can choose our 49-seater executive coach or 57-seater executive coach, and our 35-seater team coach suits a mid-sized group. Our drivers are smartly turned out and reach the pickup a quarter of an hour before the time you agree with us, in vehicles fitted with CCTV and live telematics that are cleaned thoroughly before they leave.

We collect from homes, hotels and meeting points across Sussex and Kent, including Heathfield, Lewes, Uckfield, Brighton, Eastbourne, Haywards Heath, Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells.

Evening and event travel more widely is covered on our minibus hire for events page, and theatre groups heading west can see coach hire to Chichester Festival Theatre.
