Coach and minibus hire to Battle Abbey
Groups booking coach hire to Battle Abbey with JRP Direct travel together to the place where the armies of King Harold and William the Conqueror met in 1066. JRP Direct is a small, family-run operator based at Buttons Farm near Heathfield, trading since 2019 with a modern fleet and a team of drivers who all hold enhanced DBS checks. Battle Abbey is run by English Heritage and has no coach parking on site, so the visit is planned around where your vehicle parks in the town, what English Heritage includes for groups and schools, and how long to allow.
Where coaches and minibuses park in Battle
English Heritage confirms there is no coach parking at 1066 Battle of Hastings, Abbey and Battlefield. Coaches use the town centre coach park in Market Road, about a 10-minute walk from the abbey, so the driver can set the group down and collect them again at an agreed time.
Minibus groups have a closer option. English Heritage notes a large car park near the entrance for cars and minibuses, with a daily parking charge, which makes our 16-seater and 19-seater minibuses a practical choice for smaller parties visiting Battle.
Group visits with English Heritage
English Heritage offers a 10 per cent discount for organised groups of 15 or more paying visitors when payment is made in a single transaction, with free entry for one tour leader and one coach driver. English Heritage members do not count towards the group total. Group bookings need at least 14 days’ notice, and English Heritage suggests allowing around two hours for the visit.
Groups can add the Battle and Abbey Tour, which runs for 40 to 60 minutes and tells the story of the battle and the abbey built as its memorial, and the exhibition 1066, the Battle for England, covers the English and Norman sides of the conflict.
