Where did you hear about us?*

Why Kent Groups Book Us

The short answer as to why people book us for coach hire in Kent is geography. Cross in Hand sits about ten miles from the Kent border. Tunbridge Wells is a shorter drive for us than Brighton is. So for groups in West Kent and the Weald, we’re often the nearest professional operator with full-size coaches – and for groups further east, the mileage is still small enough that our pricing stays sensible.

The other part of the answer is how we work. You ring 01435 515099 and speak to a small office team who’ll know your booking by name. Clear communication, transparent pricing and straightforward paperwork. No call centre, no booking portal that goes silent the moment something changes.

We’re based just over the border at Buttons Farm near Heathfield in East Sussex, which in practice makes us a local option for Kent and Sussex. A family-run company, operating since 2019, and built on a simple standard: the coach arrives 15 minutes early, clean, checked and driven by someone who’s done the route before.

Our Coaches

For full-size groups, we have a few options:

Smaller group? Our 16-seater and 19-seater executive minibuses cover the same ground – there’s more on those on our minibus hire to Kent page.

What We Do in Kent

School trips. Think Canterbury Cathedral, Dover Castle, the Historic Dockyard at Chatham, and theatre trips into London. We hold enhanced DBS checks on every driver, CCTV on every vehicle, and timings planned so the coach is waiting before the children are. We’re used to the paperwork side too – risk assessments, driver and vehicle documentation, whatever the school office needs before a head teacher signs the trip off.

See school coach hire in Kent for more on multi-coach year-group bookings and planning waiting time against a return trip.

European tours via Dover and Folkestone. This is where being near the Kent ports pays off. We take school groups, choirs and touring parties through the Port of Dover and the Eurotunnel regularly, and we plan the legal driver hours, rest stops, and paperwork properly so the trip leader doesn’t have to become an expert in EU drivers’ regulations overnight.

Weddings. Guest transport to Kent’s castle and country-house venues – Leeds Castle, Hever Castle, and the many converted barns around the Weald, where parking is tight, and taxis are difficult. One coach, everyone arrives together, nobody’s car gets left in a field.

Sports teams. League fixtures, cup runs, sporting events, and tour weekends across Kent and beyond.

Corporate and group travel. Conference shuttles, team days, race meetings and Christmas parties. Smart vehicles, courteous drivers, and simple invoicing for the person who has to put it through accounts. For smaller executive groups, corporate minibus hire in Kent covers staff shuttles and client transport in more detail.

Community and care groups. Coastal days to Whitstable, Broadstairs and Folkestone, with door-to-door collection and unhurried boarding.

Other things we cover include vineyard tours, garden tours, day trips, and airport transfers.

  • “Wonderful Experience”

“Our sincerest thanks to you for providing such a wonderful experience for my wife’s birthday trip. Excellent driver, and we couldn’t have wished for a better vehicle for our outing. Nothing was too much trouble for you, and we very much appreciate that.”

Safety & Standards

The whole fleet carries CCTV and telematics tracking. Vehicles go through pre-journey checks and are cleaned to a high standard before every hire. Drivers hold enhanced DBS checks, kept current, and arrive smartly presented and properly briefed on your booking.

Local Roads

Our drivers work the A21, A26 and A228 corridors constantly, and they know the difference between the route a satnav suggests and the route that actually works at 8 am on a school day. For tight venue access – a Wealden barn wedding, a narrow village hall car park, the coach drop-off arrangements at Canterbury – that local knowledge is worth more than any spec sheet.

FAQs

Which parts of Kent do you cover?

All of it. West Kent – Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Edenbridge – is closest to our Heathfield base, but we regularly run coaches to and from Maidstone, Ashford, Canterbury, Medway and the coast.

Can you take a school group to France or Belgium?

Yes. European tours through Dover or the Eurotunnel are a regular part of our work. We handle the driver-hours planning and vehicle documentation, and we’ll talk you through what the school needs to arrange at its end, such as passports and travel insurance.

How many passengers can your largest coach carry?

Our largest coach holds up to 73 passengers, and has space for luggage underneath the cabin.

Do you charge extra for evening or weekend hire?

Weekend and evening work is normal for us – most weddings and fixtures happen then. The quote reflects the actual job: distance, duration and timings. There’s no blanket surcharge added on for unsociable hours, though very late finishes are priced into the job from the start, so there are no surprises.

Is a deposit required to book?

For most bookings, yes – the office will confirm the amount and payment options when you book. Businesses and schools can usually be invoiced; just mention it when you call.

If you’re early in the planning and just want to know whether something’s feasible – a three-pickup wedding shuttle, a five-day European tour, a 6 am departure from Maidstone – call and ask.
